Female Foeticide

Female Foeticide (The Evil)- “Disappearing Girls”

We are born of Woman.
We make friendship with Woman.
We are angaged and married to a Woman.
We are bound with the world through Woman.
There is none without Woman.

People Always Pray for a BOY
Not for a GIRL
Blessings of elders are for MALE
Not for FEMALE
But in need of Wealth
People pray for Ma LAXMI
For Success in Eduation
People Pray to Ma SARASWATI
For Removal of Tension
People Pray to Ma AMBAJI
And to escape from the devil
People pray to Ma KALI
Now tell me, why do people Hesitate
to have a FEMALE in the family,
While those whom they pray
to during trouble, are FEMALES ???
SAVE THE GIRL CHILD !!!

Foeticide (or Feticide) is an act that causes the death of a featus. Mainly done intentionally to kill girl infants. That is why this has become a major Problem and termed as Female Feoticide.

Female Infanticide is the intentional killing of baby girls due to the preference for male child and from the low value associated with the birth of females.

Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques includes:
>Ultra-sonography
>Foetoscopy
>Amniocentesis
>Taking samples of amniotic fluid, embryo, blood or any tissue or fluid of pregnant women after conception.

Reasons Behind Female Foeticide:
>Preference to the Male Child – Male offsprings are desired in order to inherit property, carry on family name, to provide support for parents in old age. It’s not crime to wish for having a son but it is crime to kill someone for that.
>No Government policies, No Child benefits are given to the peoples who have two or three daughters so that they can provide good education to them.
>The high costs of providing a dowry means daughters are often viewed as praya dhan (to be married and sent away).
>Sons are often considered (rightly or wrongly) to be the sole means of support for aging parents.
>Families are more likely to abort a female fetus if the first child is also a Girl.
>Women are viewed as liability because they are seen to need protection and the benefits of investing in them increase to the families into which they are married.
>In many regions , women who fail to deliver boys are harrased by their in-laws or thrown out on the street.

“If you can afford to buy a car, a refrigerator or a microwave oven, then maybe you can afford to make sure you have a son as well”

Everyone is concerned about the Unborn GIRLS who are Killed.
But what about the who have to DIE everyday after the BIRTH.
She die when no one is ready to marry her, when there Parents can’t afford DOWRY.
She has to die when no one CARES for her RESPECT.
She has to die if She give Birth to only a GIRL CHILD and not a BOY.

“Prabhuji mein tori binti karoon
Paiyan Paroon bar bar
Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Na Dije
Narak Dije Chahe Dar….”

Meaning:
Oh, God, I beg of you,
I touch your feet time and again,
Next birth don’t give me a daughter,
Give me Hell instead……

–An old Folk Song From Uttar Pradesh

Facing Problems due to Female Foeticide:
>In some regions, the age-old custom of dowry is now being reversed, with the families of young male suitors paying a stiff price for a wife for their sons.
>Female Foeticide will disturb male-female ratio.
>Female Foeticide leads to increase in rate of unmarried Males.

How To Stop This Menace ??? SUGGESTIONS:
>Stop Taking Dowry.
>Start Giving Respect to Woman in the Family as well as in the Society.
>Instead of Spending Money on Discussions, Campaigns and Advertisements against Female Foeticide,Government should provide good free Education to the Girls and also help the Families who have more than one Girl Child.
>A series of activities are to be organized to create awareness among different stakeholders and community at large, about the decling sex ratio and its negative impact on the society as a whole.
>Educate communities not to discriminate against girl children and stay away from practices like sex selection and female foiticide.
>People should be motivated to perform rituals by daughter over son at parent’s cremation and at every death anniversary thereafter.
>Laws should be made to share the earnings of married daughters for old age parents, which reduces the son preference.
>Educate Girls/Women to empower them on their rights to check female foeticide.
>Government should help financially to those people who have two or three daughters so that they may provide good education to their daughters and get them married without any hurdle(dowry).

The Animals don’t differentiate Males and Females–
Then, why we are ?? Are we Un-civilized ??
